The Kind of "More" that Matters

1) Just for fun: What’s the best birthday present you ever received during your childhood? What made that gift so great? Where is that gift today?

2) A Roman philosopher once said, "Money has never yet made anyone rich." What do you think he meant by that statement?

3) Do you think that the majority of people in the world are currently content or searching for contentment? Explain how you see this play out in your everyday life.

4) Read Philippians 1:19-26 and 3:4-11. How did you see Paul’s contentment in Christ affect His life during both times of poverty and times of prosperity? Is there anything that you need in this world more than contentment in Christ? Are there things in this world that you want more than Christ?

5) Many people today think that climbing the ladder is their highest goal. But God says more character should be our goal. How have you seen someone striving for accomplishment more than character effect their life? How has it effected the lives of those around them?

6) Read James 1:2-4. Where in your life do you feel you have been tested? How has this testing made you stronger?

Questions for week July 6th - 12th

Made for More Part 1
The Secret of Satisfaction

1) Just for Fun: How did you spend your 4th of July weekend and what was the best part of it?

2) Contentment is finding fulfillment in what you have while in pursuit of what you want. What are some of the greatest things that you can find your contentment in right now? How does that contentment effect you while in pursuit of your wants?

3) What is the outcome in someone's life who always compares what they have or where they are with someone else? Have you ever been in the comparison trap? If so, how did it effect you? Or do you know someone in the comparison trap and what effects do you see on their life? And is there anything in yours or their life that you think has been the stimulus for such comparisons?

4)  People who handle and adapt to change the easiest are the ones who live the most content and happiest lives. Would you say that you handle and adapt to change easily?  Why do you, or do you not,  adapt to change so easily in your opinion.

5) The ultimate way that we learn to be content is to find that place where we truly trust in God to provide and to meet all of our needs. How would you rate yourself on a scale of 1-10 when it comes to trusting God? What has happened (good or bad) in your life that has caused you to come up with that number?

6) After hearing this sermon, what is your greatest take-a-way?
