Questions for week Feb 21st - 27th

The Power is in your WHY

1) Just for Fun: Share a bizarre or very interesting encounter you’ve had in life (could be at work, personal, from travel, with friends).

2) People are driven by five different things- Guilt, Resentment, Fear, Materialism, and Need for Approval. Of these five, which one do you feel has been a driving force in your life?

3) Have you ever spent a lot of time questioning what your purpose is?

4) Do you believe that God has a purpose for you? Do you think His is better than your own?

5) Have you always had a sense of purpose in your life? If so, what do you feel was your main purpose?

6) God loved you so much that He sent His only Son to die for your sins. Since you know how great of a love that is, do you think that His purpose for you is a good one?

7) Without purpose, life becomes pointless, petty and trivial. But with purpose comes 4 major things- Meaning to Life, Simplifies our Life, Focuses our Lives, and Energizes your life. How have you found these to be true in your own life?

The purpose of our lives at work is to show that God is at work in our lives. Close out your time with your group praying for God to allow everyone to point others to Christ through the way they Love God, Love People and Serve Others on their jobs and at their schools.

Questions for week Feb 7th - 13th

Life is a Team Sport, Get in the Game

Just for Fun: Have you ever attended a Super Bowl? What was the last football game you attended?

1) Pastor Mark shared this statement with us, Show me your friends and I'll show you your future. How have you seen your friends effect your life, positively and negatively?

2) There are a few contributing factors to feelings of isolation. Increased Mobility (people move frequently) Modern Conveniences (things like air conditioning causes us to stay indoors more) Attached Garages (people used to park in their yards which enabled more interaction with neighbors) and Social Media (we communicate constantly but rarely are we connecting).
Of these, which one do you see has effected you the most and why?

3) We are all one meaningful relationship away from a new life trajectory. But not only can a relationship be a catalyst in our life change, we can be that friend that helps change someone else's life.
  • What gifts and talents do you feel you have to offer others?
  • Who is someone in your life that you have been a friend or mentor to?
  • If you have not had that opportunity, pray for God to send someone to you that you can teach, encourage and help grow. This will help you grow spiritually and relationally at the same time.
4)  Read Acts 2:42-47.
  • What words would you say best describe the atmosphere of this passage?
  • What made the early church so appealing to others?

5) The word “devoted” is used in verse 42 and means “to give your constant attention.”
  • What activities did the early Christians “devote themselves to” in this verse?
  • How devoted are you to each of these things?

6) How has being in Life Group grown you relationally and spiritually?

Close out your time together praying for God to use your group to be a continual blessing and support to one another.

Questions for week Jan 31st - Feb 6th

Guardrails Part 4
No More Detours

You can scroll down and go through some of the questions from all the Guardrails sermons as well as these from Part 4.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

1) Why do you think we are drawn to situations that can ultimately harm us (i.e., financial, relational, professional)?

2) Why is it easier to cross a line of temptation once you’ve done it before?

3) What is the best way to curb an appetite?

4) Read Daniel 1. Daniel resolved to maintain his guardrails. How can you keep your guardrails from weakening or moving backwards?

5) Looking back, how has establishing a guardrail saved you from potential disaster?

6) What areas of your life do you need resolve? In other words, what areas of your life do you need to finally surrender?

MOVING FORWARD

None of this is really new information. We’ve known all along that refusing to establish guardrails does not erase the tension of temptation; it only weakens our resolve. We’ve known all along that we need to make up our minds . . . before we know how our stories end. So, at this point, it’s pretty simple. Make up your mind. Trust God. Establish guardrails.
