Questions for week June 24th-30th

‎1) Just for fun, can you remember the moment you realized your vision was changing as you began to get older? How did you respond?

2) Share a little about when you came to Christ. (The where, when, how, and how you felt and how your life chaned.)

3) Out of the six signs that we are not walking with God, but limping behind God, which one(s) have you recognized you encountered?
-lack genuine humility
-we find ourself complaining more than worshiping
-we are quick to excuse our behavior instead of owning it and being responsible for it
-we seek to be served rather than seeking to serve others
-we view the things of God as an obligation to be endured rather than an opportunity to be enjoyed
-we always think this sermon is for everyone else but us

3) And if you have experienced limping instead of walking with God, what steps did you take to get back in step with God?

Questions for week June 17th-23rd


1) Sunday's sermon was intro'ed with a video of two men playing basketball and talking about their dads. At one point they compared their fathers to a TV sitcom dad. If you had to compare your father to a sitcom TV dad, which one would he be?

2) Can you share one of your fondest memories of your father? How has that memory help shape you as an adult?

3) Some people have grown up either not knowing who their father was or maybe they did know him but he was not a good role model for them. Even in these situations there is still something of value that can be gleaned from this experience. Romans 8:28 tells us, And we know that God causes EVERYTHING to work together for the good of those who love God. So if your relationship with your father does not hold the fondest of memories, is there any good from that experience that has help shape you as an adult that you can share?

4) When you think about Jesus while he was on earth, what kind of man did you always believe he was? (manly and rough, mushy and soft, or somewhere in-between) What lead you to have those beliefs?

5) In point #2 Pastor Mark shared the Correct Picture of Jesus... He was not above losing his cool on matters of significance. He was not above calling sin, sin. He was not afraid to call even his friends out when necessary. After hearing this, how will this knowledge affect your actions in the future?

6) In the last point, Pastor share the Complete Picture of Jesus... He rejected passivity. He accepted the responsibility. He embraced the difficulty. Of the three, which is the easiest for you to do and which is the hardest for you to do?

Questions for week June 10th-16th

1) In the past, how did you deal with the people who have hurt you? Do you feel your actions toward them help you or hurt you?

2) Have you known someone who was deeply hurt and responded with retaliation? Have you know someone who was deeply hurt and responded with incredible strength and Christlike character? Of the two people, which one do you feel has the greater peace in their life? And how has the latter person been an example to you and others?

3) When you are deeply hurt there are always voices around you encouraging you to take two different paths, the path of revenge or the path of forgiveness? Have you ever chose forgiveness, and if so what how has that changed you?

4) After experiencing difficulty in a relationship the relationship can go two ways, it can get stronger or it can disintegrate. Have you experienced either of these? What happened that made it stronger and what happened that made it disintegrate? (you don't have to share specifics)

5) Was there anything about Sunday's sermon that impacted you the most that we have not discussed?

Questions for week June 3rd-9th

1) Sunday was about worshiping God with lives of excellence. So how do you define excellence?

2) How do you feel excellence contributes to more influence in our homes, jobs, volunteer positions etc?

3) Share about how God has helped shape you to be more of a person of excellence. How has your current or past jobs/experiences impacted that shaping?

4) From the list mentioned Sunday of the areas we need to be people of excellence, which do you feel is your strongest? Weakest?

5) How have you seen the areas mentioned in the sermon lived out? How have they helped you or someone else you know gain more influence with your coworkers, families, etc? Pick one area and share an example of someone you know who does one particular area well.

6) What’s one thing you feel God impressed on you from Sunday’s message about being a person of excellence? Share any next steps you plan on taking.
