Questions for week Jan 25th - 31st

The D Word

1) Just for fun: Who are you cheering for Super Bowl Sunday- the Patriots or the Seahawks? Do you watch the game for the football or the commercials?

Feel free to use the questions from Ripple Part 1 here, Part 2 here or Part 3 here as well as the ones for Part 4 below.

2) Where in your life are you lacking the most discipline? How has that affected you?

3) Read Romans 7:21-25 and discuss what the author is saying.

4) Read 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 and discuss what the author is saying.

5) What things have you discovered in your life that hinder you from being disciplined? What do you need to do to address these distractions?

6) How can your one word, your one thought, your one statement help you become more disciplined?

7) Small changes make big differences. What one thing do you commit to in front of your life group to work on changing this next week?

Close by praying for your group and for them to stay committed to their commitment to change one thing this next week. Remind them, that through Christ, ALL things are possible.

1) Just for fun: What was the highlight of this past week?

2) How have you been affected by life-giving and life-taking words spoken to you?

3) Pastor Mark asked you to take a self-audit on whether your words are life-giving or life-taking.

What words do you tend to speak most often: life-giving or life-taking?  

What life-giving words do you need to speak to yourself and others?   

4) How have you seen your words affect your actions or beliefs?

5) What can you do to guard your heart against life-taking words when they are spoken to you? Read and discuss Psalm 34:12-14 and Philippians 4:4-9.

6)  In what situations do you find it most difficult to speak life-giving words to yourself or others?

7) In the first sermon in this series Pastor Mark asked you to focus on one word that would drive and direct your year. In Ripple Part 2 he asked you to have one statement that you can repeat again and again to help accomplish this word.  What is your one statement? How does it relate to your one word?
