Questions for week Feb 28th - March 5th

Can't Stop, Won't Stop
Lost and Found Part 1

1) Just for fun: What is one thing that you experienced lately that you just had to share it with someone else?

2) Peter preached his second sermon after Jesus’ ascension in Acts 3:12-26. What happened as a result of that sermon (4:1-4)?

3) The priests, the captain of the temple guard, and the Sadducees were “greatly disturbed” with Peter speaking to the people (4:2).

  • What part of Peter’s message particularly bothered the Sadducees (Compare 4:2 with Luke 20:27)?
  • What role did the priests and temple guard play in the arrest of Jesus (see Luke 22:52-54)?

4) Does the arrest of Peter and John slow the spread of the gospel (4:3-4)? How can the power of God be made evident even in the midst of adverse situations?

5) If you were Peter or John, how would you have felt when you got thrown into jail?

6) What did the council do to try and prevent the spread of the Gospel in Acts 4:17-18, 21?

  • How did Peter and John respond to the threats of the council (verses 19-20)?
  • What is the right response to the statement of Peter and John in 4:19?
7) Read Acts 4:23-30
  • Where did the apostles go and what did they do immediately after being released by the council (verse 23)?
  • If you were in need, to whom would you go and what would you do? How should 4:23-24 serve as an example for us?
  • Describe how the believers begin to pray (4:24).
  • Were Peter and John alone?
  • Were they silent in their prayers?
  • What did they give glory to God for?
  • What did the believers request of God, specifically, in verses 29-30?
  • Is that how you would have prayed after such an experience? Why or why not?

8) What phenomenon occurred when they finished their prayer (verse 31)?
  • Have you ever been in a hostile environment for the sake of the Gospel? If so, explain how you handled it.
  • Is it worth it to you to suffer consequences for being bold in the name of the Lord? Why or why not?
  • What do you think it means for you right now to be bold in the name of the Lord?
9) What would it look like in your life “to believe with boldness”?

  • Have you ever asked the Lord to give you the opportunity and the ability to speak boldly in his name? Explain.

End your time praying for the names your group placed on the Lost and Found cards this past Sunday.
